Our Stories
We're thrilled that our CITO, Tan Shui-Min, joined the FSTGov Future of Singapore Government Summit 2024! 🚀

During the panel Exploring Data Innovation: Government’s Endeavour with Gen AI & Data Analytics, alongside Sutowo Wong from the Ministry of Health, she shared insights on AI integration, innovative applications, and skills development across NUS IT and beyond.

At NUS IT, we are committed to driving AI enablement by fostering AI literacy through hands-on training - from basic prompt engineering to building personalised AI solutions using our RAG platform. Whether beginner or advanced, our programmes emphasise the importance of AI accuracy, explainability, and managing risks. As Shui-Min said:

"In each of our training, whether basic or advanced, we make it a point to highlight the limitations of AI, in the areas of accuracy, explainability, and the kinds of issues and liability that NUS may be posed with if they are not managed adequately."

Big thanks to FSTGov for the opportunity to showcase how NUS IT is shaping the future of AI! 💡

What an exciting week of achievements! Huge congratulations to the NUS IT Interreality Team for winning the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Teaching Excellence Award (Team category) 2024 for their incredible work on the Immersive Virtual Reality: Procedures (IVR-P) project, in collaboration with the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine!👏

In the world of nursing, practice is crucial—sometimes a matter of life and death. However, with logistical and resource challenges, along with manpower limitations, getting hands-on experience isn't always easy. That's where virtual reality in education steps in. Through a fantastic partnership, the IVR-P project was born, transforming traditional learning with immersive 3D simulations. This project focuses on four critical nursing procedures: Intravenous (IV) therapy, subcutaneous insulin injection, wound dressing, and urinary catheterisation.

As Associate Professor Lydia Lau from the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies shares, “Students feel more at ease practising, even when they are unsure, thanks to the practice and assessment modes within IVR-P, which offer step-by-step guides and realistic scenarios resembling actual clinical settings."

The IVR-P project offers an interactive, scenario-based simulated ward environment, providing students with the opportunity to safely practise and perfect their skills with realistic equipment and guidance.

We're immensely proud of the NUS IT Interreality Team for pushing the boundaries of AR/VR in education! Congratulations to our team and amazing collaborators from the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine! 🎉
