Firewall and Firewall Request

Firewalls are network appliances used to protect our NUS resources by blocking unwanted communication and allowing only what is “required” for the application/service.

Firewalls are setup in different network segments, protecting our NUS resources. By default, it will deny all the communication unless specifically allowed.

Anyone setting up a new server or application hosted in NUS Data Center that needs communication with other servers/services in the Data Center or Internet will require Firewall ports to be opened/whitelisted for the client/server communication.

A Firewall Request is required to whitelist the client-server communication. The request can be submitted for an IP group, an IP address, a URL or a Domain.

Who can use it?

Firewall Request is available to Staff and Visitors with a valid NUS-ID.

How do I get it?

You can submit a Firewall Request by submitting the Firewall Request-Add request in nTouch.

Where can I get more information?

For more information, go to nTouch and search for Firewall.

You can also Chat with ALCA by typing #Firewall.
