NUS IT Digital Enablement Team’s Sharing with AUs!
18 Oct 2022
If you have not heard about it, Robotic process automation, or RPA in short, is a software technology that makes it easy to build, deploy, and manage software robots that emulate humans’ actions. It helps to reduce manual work by creating a bot to simulate mouse clicks and keyboard actions on a computer.
Basically, in gist, you get to create software bots that do what you want them to!
Within NUS IT, we have a Digital Enablement (DE) team dedicated to teaching us how to use tools such as Power Automate Desktop for RPA and helping to raise the digital dexterity of the NUS community.
In September, the DE team hosted a Community of Practice (COP) forum with RPA representatives from the 6 autonomous universities in Singapore. At the meeting held virtually, we saw participants from NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD, SIT, and SUSS. Ms Chong Lee Hua and Mr Tan Keok Tay, Associate Directors of DE shared NUS’ RPA journey and the initiatives and events they spearheaded and conducted! They also shared their words of wisdom about directing DE’Hackathon, a large-scale event where all NUS staff were invited to leverage technology and DE tools to resolve challenges at work.
Lee Hua summarised the story of how the team digitally transformed NUS with a robust automation service! It was a fascinating journey indeed!
To conclude the presentation, she showcased a video that showed how learners from NUS have benefitted from the DE team’s programmes as they shared their success stories and best practices in their respective departments.
Video is available for all in NUS Community – https://ss.nus.edu.sg/digital-enablement/cop2022/video-how-people-drive-efficiency-with-tools/
This entire session wrapped up with the participating AUs summarising their respective RPA journeys and concluding with an insightful Q&A with the presenters. Seeing how we learn from each other is always amazing, and this COP is an excellent way to showcase our thought leadership!
With that, we passed the baton to SMU and we are definitely looking forward to them hosting the next session! 🎉🥳
