We are proud to announce that our Chief Information Technology Officer, Ms Tan Shui-Min, has been honoured on the Singapore 100 Women in Tech List 2021!
This award recognises women in tech who display resolute dedication and compassion. Through their substantial achievements, they lead and influence countless others to carve their own unique paths through technology.
The SG100WIT List was announced at Singapore Computer Society’s VTECH³ FORUM 2021, organised in partnership with IMDA and SG Women in Tech on 15th October 2021 with Ms Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-In-Charge of Smart Nation and Cybersecurity, as the guest-of-honour.
In a surprise congratulatory video, top luminaries such as President of the Republic of Singapore Halimah Yacob shared special messages for the recipients on the list.
“My heartiest congratulations to the outstanding women of the SG 100 Women in Tech List, as well as the young ladies of the Girls in Tech category. This accolade is testament to your hard work and grit. The STEM sector has traditionally been dominated by males. I applaud you for working against those stereotypical views to follow your passion in this field. As trailblazers in Singapore’s tech sector, you have shown that women are equally capable of pushing the frontiers of knowledge and defining the future of technology. We are all so proud of you. I hope more females will be inspired by you, and follow in your footsteps to propel our nation forward in the digital economy,” shared President Halimah Yacob.
Dr Chong Yoke Sin, President of Singapore Computer Society, commended recipients: “We’re very happy to announce such an impressive and accomplished SG 100 Women in Tech List for 2021. Our awardees are outstanding youths, professionals and leaders from across the spectrum of industry, government and community.”
Ms Tan was appointed as NUS Chief IT Officer in November 2020, and in her short tenure, has spearheaded many ground-breaking projects that exemplified her leadership and positioned NUS at the forefront of higher education technology. From infrastructure-strategic projects, state-of-the-art technology initiatives to emergency management systems, Shui-Min led the digital transformation of the university.
“I am honoured to be amongst a list of illustrious awardees in this prestigious accolade that celebrates women in IT. I am grateful for my incredible team, and share this recognition with them. This award is also an affirmation that women can excel and make a difference in the tech sector,” commented Ms Tan.
