NUS – StarHub Memorandum of Understanding Signing
12 Dec 2019
A significant milestone was achieved with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and StarHub to equip the Department of Building School of Design and Environment’s SDE4 building as a 5G test laboratory, making it the first net-zero energy building with the latest wi-fi technology.
SDE4 is the first newly-built net-zero energy building in Singapore, and in combination with 5G capabilities, this partnership will help create a new state-of-the-art learning and work environment, and enable innovations in education, research and for industry.
We were lucky to catch a sneak peak of some of these innovative tools enhanced by 5G in action, such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) through virtual classrooms for facilities management, and artificial intelligence (AI) through drone building façade inspection systems.
