HPC Consulting Service
Service Description
To provide consultation to researchers during the research project planning and budgeting phase with the aim to enable researchers to make informed decision in the acquisition of HPC solutions, resources and services to meet their research computing requirements.
(1) Advise on solution options based on application requirements, e.g. cluster (CPU or GPU), large memory many-core server, Grid or Cloud solutions.
(2) Advise on system design to meet performance requirements with relation to server (processor, memory), storage and network technologies.
(3) Advise on application software and tools options based on the research requirements.
(4) Advise on capacity planning and budgeting.
(5) For research project that has decided to make use of on-demand HPC utility service (Cloud service):
• Advise on the Cloud Computing options available.
• Provide interface to various service providers.
(6) For research project that prefer to acquire their own HPC resources:
• Advise on technical specifications for procurement.
• Advise on data centre hosting.
