The inaugural DE’Hackathon event was a cross-department collaboration with 12 participating teams across 18 departments. Each team was made up of staff from 2 or more departments, resulting in various unique and innovative solutions.
This event had put NUS staff’s digital skills to the test by leveraging DE tools and technology which they had learnt under NUS IT’s ongoing DE programme, to address challenges in their current work processes by using these digital tools and know-how to transform their work processes for the better.
The DE’Hackathon 2022 took place over a period of 5 days in July, with 4 days for the project teams to work on their respective projects and 1 day of presentation. The event took about 3 months to prepare which included a pre-event briefing on the rules and digital enablement tools, special clinic sessions for the hackathon, a kick-off session, and etc.
The teams were evaluated on the merits of look and feel, innovativeness, estimated savings in cost / time, and impact. It was definitely a challenging task, but all the teams managed to pull through the 2 rounds of competition. The judges were impressed with their creativity and collaborative efforts in producing solutions which highlighted the diverse ways that digital tools could be applied across a wide range of processes within NUS.
Ms Tan Shui-Min, Chief Information Technology Officer, commended the teams for making significant progress from being digitally aware to becoming digitally fluent and reaching expert level with their solutions.
And the winner goes to ComAct who leverage technology with the aim to engage ageing residents through Purposeful Activities (PA) for a meaningful and better quality of life!
