ELISA 3D

About

The E-Learning in Structural Analysis (ELISA) 3D is a teaching and learning app made for simulating complex construction structures in 3D that requires Civil Engineering students to do calculations, analysis and design of construction joints, build structures to access dynamics and ensure suitability in deployment onsite at a building.

This 3D environment enables them to reiteratively test and deploy designs in civil engineering without real life consequences.

What it solved

Currently, it is very difficult or almost impossible to visualise building structures after calculations are made and applied to construction plans. With ELISA 3D, civil engineering students can better visualise their proposed structures in 3D perspective. It also enables them to put their proposed structures through feasibility tests using their physical measurements to assess and anticipate any other challenges in overall design.

Feedback from the Civil Engineering students have been positive.

It would be very helpful to visualise in our study of structures.

Beautiful view in the top floor.

Simple to use.

Free to move and check everything in structures. Explicit demonstration.

This project won the Faculty of Engineering Innovative Teaching Award 2022 (A/P Poh Leong Hien) and current data collection is on-going with an enhancement added on this year, research journal publication is schedule to complete 2nd quarter 2023.
